The Guestbook collects all the Notecards written by visitors to the virtual Old Masters Picture Gallery. Please note down your impressions when you next visit the museum at Second Life. Tell us about your aesthetic experiences in the virtual gallery. Think about the differences between your perceptions of art in the virtual world and in Real Life. Discuss the question of the atmosphere, the "here and now of a work of art" (Walter Benjamin) when presented via this medium.

I must congratulate you on the excellent presentation you have created here at the SL Dresden Gallery. It is by far the best site I have yet to visit here.
The architectural detail serves the site well and establishes the necessary gravitas that the home for these masterpieces deserve. As an Architect myself, I can appreciate the effort taken in creating this virtual replica and am now further encouraged that the virtual world can offer a new generation in understanding design with our clientele. I would love to tour the other shells of the campus someday with or without displays of the collection.
I was most impressed with the quality of the images from your collection and was particularly pleased to see the large number of Canaletto pieces. ( He's a favorite of mine. ) Although nothing surpasses the opportunity to view the collection in the actual world, the virtual world creates the opportunity to view the collection. The expense and difficulty of travel are eliminated and the collection can be brought to a far wider group than ever before. The audio guide worked flawlessly and added insight and depth for the tour. I would encourage you to add more as time and budget allow.
My only critique would be to have a graphic posted next to each piece with date, title, artist information. Clicking and keeping notecards became a bit tedious after a while.
Again, allow me to applaud your effort. I encourage you to continue your efforts to develop this new world. No doubt, Plato would have seen this as a realization of the "world of ideas"

Ich war kürzlich erst in der Gallery (im wahren Leben). Ich bin sehr beeindruckt von der authentischen Gestaltung des Gebäudes und der Präsentation der vielen Bilder. Bewundernswerte Arbeit.
Es macht sehr viel Spaß, durch die Räume zu wandeln und vor den Bildern zu verweilen. Unfassbar, wie die Details in den Räumen angelegt sind. Es muss sehr viel Arbeit gewesen sein, all die Bilder in dieser sehr guten Qualität zeigen zu können.
Respekt! Sehr gute Arbeit. Ich wünschte, es gäbe mehr von diesem Niveau in SL.

Excellent experience. I visited this museum (in the real world) last spring. This was just like being there! I will have to tell my son's German teacher about this! It is an incredible thing that you have been able to recreate this! I will definitely be back often to visit. Thank you for all your efforts!
I was very impressed with the environment that you created-it was astonishing in its level of detail and accuracy. SL obviously has substantial limitations interns of rendering detail but I was impressed at what you were able to create. The experience of the art was interesting in that I was able to look at it within the environment but the virtuality of it was always apparent. I think it is the beginning of something quite wonderful but I do miss the texture and detail that comes with standing in front of the art-moving from side to side-seeing the energy and detail on the canvas and feeling the age of it. The lack of a tangible thing feels more pronounced than even a book offers. Perhaps having something in your hands transports you in a more visceral way than an image on a screen.
Lovely job. I will come back again to see what develops.

Ich bin nun schon zum wiederholten Male hier und bin immer noch beeindruckt. Ich glaube, viel mehr lässt sich aus einer virtuellen Präsenz nicht herausholen.
Im Gegenteil, im einem realen Museum kann man sich kaum die Zeit nehmen, alles anzusehen. Hier hat man unendlich viel Zeit, so man sie sich nimmt. Und man hat die Gelegenheit, wiederzukommen, wann immer man will. Und sich Raum für Raum anzusehen. Vielen Dank dafür!
